What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Quartz Countertop Installer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Quartz Countertop Installer, you need experience in measuring, cutting, and installing stone surfaces, often supported by a background in construction or carpentry. Familiarity with tools like wet saws, polishers, and templating systems, as well as safety certifications, is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication with clients and team members are valuable soft skills. These abilities ensure precise, high-quality installations and customer satisfaction in a demanding, detail-oriented field.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Jobs that can pay $4,000 a week without a degree include skilled trades such as electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians, especially with experience and certifications. Sales roles like real estate agents or high-end car salespeople can also reach this income level through commissions. These positions often require specialized training, licensing, or strong interpersonal skills but do not necessarily require a college degree.

What are some common challenges faced by quartz countertop installers, and how can they be addressed?

Quartz countertop installers often encounter challenges such as transporting and maneuvering heavy slabs, ensuring precise measurements for custom fits, and handling seams to maintain a seamless appearance. Effective communication with clients and contractors is also essential to coordinate installation schedules and resolve any on-site challenges efficiently.

What are quartz countertops?

Quartz countertops are engineered stone surfaces made from a combination of natural quartz crystals and resin binders. Unlike natural stone slabs, quartz countertops are manufactured to be non-porous, durable, and available in a wide range of colors and patterns. They are popular in kitchens and bathrooms due to their resistance to stains, scratches, and bacteria. Additionally, quartz countertops require less maintenance than natural stone options like granite or marble, making them a practical choice for busy households.

What color countertops are in for 2026?

For quartz countertop installers and fabricators, neutral tones such as white, gray, and beige are expected to remain popular in 2026, with trends leaning toward natural and minimalist aesthetics. Bold colors and patterns are also gaining popularity for those seeking unique designs, but neutral shades continue to dominate the market due to their versatility and timeless appeal.

About the Role

Rumford Stone has been fabricating and installing custom countertops in New Hampshire since 1995, growing from a two-stall garage into a modern 23,000-square-foot facility with robotic fabrication equipment. We carry an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and serve homeowners, builders, and contractors throughout Northern New England. Our tops are precisely made, which means they install cleanly — and that starts with skilled installers who take pride in the finished product.

We are hiring a Stone Countertop Installer based out of our Bow, NH facility. This is a hands-on role for someone who values clean work, safe handling, and professional job site conduct. You will install quartz, granite, marble, porcelain, and other premium surfaces in homes and businesses across the region. The work is steady and year-round, and you will have the trucks, tools, and equipment needed to do the job right.

What You Will Do
  • Install stone and quartz countertops at residential and commercial job sites
  • Safely load, transport, and handle tops using proper stone handling equipment
  • Set, level, and secure tops with attention to detail and finish quality
  • Complete seam setting, caulking, and final adjustments for a clean, professional install
  • Communicate clearly with homeowners, site contacts, and teammates during installs
  • Troubleshoot minor field issues and keep the work moving without sacrificing quality
What Will Make You Successful
  • We are open to all skill levels right now, though some installation experience is strongly preferred — related construction or cabinet install experience can translate well
  • Comfort working with hand tools, levels, and measuring tools; lasers are a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in clean, complete work
  • Safety mindset and good judgment when handling heavy materials
  • A valid driver's license and a clean enough driving record to qualify for company vehicle coverage (typically 7 years with no major incidents)
  • Reliable transportation to the shop in Bow, NH
Room to Grow

This is not a dead-end job. There is real room to advance into a lead installer role, running your own jobs and crews. We promote based on skill, reliability, and craftsmanship, and we want people who want to build a career in the trade.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials with a team using carts and stone handling gear
  • Comfort bending, kneeling, standing, and working with tools for most of the shift

  • $22 to $28 per hour, depending on experience
  • Averages 47 hours per week (range 40–60), overtime available
  • Full-time, year-round work
  • No overnight travel; paid drive time in company vehicles
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; PTO; paid holidays
