Software Engineer, Data and APIs, Quantum AI

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to manage information at a massive scale and extend well beyond web search. This role is part of Google Quantum AI, focused on building a computer that unlocks solutions to classically intractable problems. You will design and build the datastores, data layers, and foundational APIs for quantum software products, working with research, product, and software teams.

Salary

US base salary range: $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of software development experience or 1 year with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience programming in Rust or C++.
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Google Distributed Cloud.
  • Experience designing data processing pipelines or job execution systems.
  • Experience building distributed services and resource-oriented APIs.
  • Familiarity or education in quantum computing with enthusiasm to learn more.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze problems and recommend solutions for both short and long-term needs, taking ownership and roadmapping to influence other engineers, and implementing solutions or delegating to colleagues.
  • Deliver outcomes as a key contributor by designing and implementing multi-quarter projects without supervision, consistently generating the ideas required to solve ambiguous problems.
  • Write and review code to ensure best practices, contributing to data preparation, optimization, and performance enhancements ensuring all technical work is high-quality.
  • Incorporate feedback on designs to determine when to enhance existing systems or build new systems, and contribute to existing documentation or educational content.
  • Partner with research groups and collaborate with teams of different backgrounds, including hardware engineers, electronic engineers, or research scientists.
