The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Ethics Team at the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics (CPMG) within Columbia University's Department of Medicine is seeking a dynamic and motivated Research Coordinator (Bioethics) to support and coordinate NIH-funded, community-engaged research studies.

This position involves a combination of independent and collaborative work under the supervision of Dr. Maya Sabatello, Principal Investigator. The Research Coordinator will support all aspects of the research portfolio, including literature reviews, qualitative and quantitative data collection, data analysis, manuscript preparation, professional presentations, and project administration.

The ideal candidate will have experience conducting empirical qualitative and quantitative research, familiarity with the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of genetics and genomics research, and a background in bioethics, public health, disability studies, or related social science disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct literature reviews relevant to ongoing research studies.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative data collection activities, including participant recruitment, surveys, and interviews.
  • Conduct data analysis using appropriate research methodologies and software.
  • Assist with manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and dissemination of study findings.
  • Provide administrative and project coordination support.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with investigators, research staff, community partners, and external collaborators.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet project deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfort using research technologies, databases, and online data collection platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in bioethics, public health, disability studies, or other social science research fields.
  • Familiarity with Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) research related to genetics and genomics.
  • Experience conducting empirical research, including survey and interview-based data collection, qualitative coding, and data analysis.
  • Experience preparing professional presentations and research materials.
  • Familiarity with disability studies and disability-related research.
  • Proficiency with research software and data management tools.
