Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantitative Developer to join our Toronto-based Quantitative Development team. This strategic role provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Quantitative Research and Investments teams, delivering cutting-edge technology solutions and advanced analytics that underpin our quantitative investment strategies. Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $140k - CAD $150k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Model Development & Deployment:Design, build, deploy, and support robust, production-grade quantitative models and portfolio optimization tools that enhance investment decision-making.
  • Technical Translation:Collaborate with research and investment teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions adhering to software engineering best practices.
  • Code Quality & Documentation:Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, incorporating automated testing, peer reviews, and version control to ensure high reliability and maintainability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work within a dynamic, members Agile development team, fostering continuous improvement, regular communication, and iterative delivery of features and solutions.
  • Operational Support:Maintain and enhance existing models and tools, troubleshoot production issues, and implement enhancements to support evolving investment strategies and data needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, or a related discipline.
  • MATLAB:Expert proficiency in developing, validating, and deploying complex mathematical models and optimization solutions suitable for production use.
  • Python:Extensive experience with Python, particularly with pandas for data analysis, manipulation, and scripting for quantitative workflows.
  • SQL:Strong ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries for retrieving, aggregating, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Financial Knowledge:Deep understanding of asset management and quantitative investing principles, including familiarity with financial statements, risk metrics, pricing models, and data.
  • Quantitative Skills:Demonstrated strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical capabilities to develop sophisticated models and interpret complex data.

Preferred, but not required:

  • CFA Charter:Holders of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation are highly valued.
  • Advanced Degree:Master of Mathematical Finance (MMF), PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in Financial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Platform Experience:Hands-on experience with Databricks, cloud-based data platforms, or similar data engineering environments.
