Job description

The Microcircuit Emulation Center at SRI International in Princeton, NJ (formerly Sarnoff Corporation) is looking for a Test Technician to support the manufacturing of microcircuits on site at our Princeton, NJ location. Through the Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits (GEM) program, the Microcircuit Emulation Center supplies form, fit, function, and interface replacements for obsolete microcircuits. A Test Technician is needed to ensure manufactured microcircuits meet all necessary requirements before they reach the customer.  The Test Technician will support production by performing physical testing of the electronic devices and following internal quality test procedures as per Mil Std 883 test method requirements for electrical and environmental tests on the final delivered microcircuit.


  • Testing of microcircuits individually using semi-automated equipment. This requires manual placement of microcircuits in test fixtures, selection of test programs and data collection by operating a computer interface.
  • Must be able to concentrate on tasks being performed for extensive time periods as testing requires interchange of samples and test procedures at set time intervals.
  • Fill out documentation / workflow documents with great attention to detail.
  • Will be provided with ESD training, microcircuit testing procedures and operational training.
  • Handle multiple tasks at the same time and perform daily organization of work areas.
  • Provide support tasks for other activities as required in terms of environmental test methods (following training) and daily group operational areas.

  • Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident due to government contract requirements.
  • After successfully completing training Monday - Friday during the hours of 8:00am โ€“ 4:30pm, must be able to work Monday-Friday - 2:00pm โ€“ 10:30pm
    • Occasional weekend work will be required depending on business needs.
  • High school diploma and interest in working in a technical role.
  • Prior knowledge of or experience with microcircuits is helpful.

The salary range is: $18.82/hr-$24.94/hr. with pay differential for second shift hours. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
