The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Design Quality & Reliability Engineer to drive product robustness, reliability, and design quality across our portfolio of embedded hardware and firmware-based safety systems.

This is a highly visible technical leadership role that partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure our products are designed, tested, and released with exceptional quality and reliability.

You will lead complex investigations, influence product development decisions, champion Design for Reliability (DfR) practices, and help prevent design escapes before products reach customers.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, conducting root-cause investigations, improving engineering processes, and influencing the development of world-class products.

What You'll DoDrive Product Reliability & Design Quality
  • Lead cross-functional investigations into product performance, reliability, and field quality issues.
  • Conduct and guide root-cause analysis activities using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Partner with development teams to identify and mitigate design risks early in the product lifecycle.
  • Champion Design for Reliability (DfR) and Design for Quality best practices.
Influence Product Development
  • Collaborate with electrical, firmware, systems, and mechanical engineers throughout the product development process.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and ensure quality and reliability requirements are incorporated into designs.
  • Review engineering documentation, requirements, verification plans, and design outputs to identify potential risks.
  • Support product development teams in achieving successful design validation and product release readiness.
Lead Risk Management Activities
  • Facilitate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities for new and existing products.
  • Coach engineering teams on effective risk identification, mitigation, and documentation practices.
  • Drive improvements in design robustness through lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
Improve Engineering Excellence
  • Develop and implement engineering quality metrics and reliability measures.
  • Support process improvements that increase development efficiency and product quality.
  • Help establish engineering standards, best practices, and standard work across global development teams.
  • Provide training and mentoring on quality and reliability tools and methodologies.
Support Sustaining Engineering & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to address product quality concerns and drive corrective actions.
  • Support product improvement initiatives based on customer feedback, field performance data, and reliability trends.
  • Represent Design Engineering in cross-functional quality improvement efforts.
What You BringRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in product development, quality engineering, reliability engineering, systems engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience leading root-cause investigations and solving complex technical problems.
  • Experience with structured product development processes.
  • Working knowledge of DFMEA, risk management, or reliability methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience with embedded systems, electronics, firmware, controls, or industrial equipment.
  • Experience in industrial, automotive, aerospace, medical device, or safety-critical industries.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering, Design for Reliability (DfR), Six Sigma, or statistical analysis methods.
  • Experience using tools such as Minitab, JMP, or other engineering analysis software.
  • ASQ, Six Sigma, Reliability, or Quality certifications are a plus.
