The Opportunity:
The Mill Technical Manager is responsible for maintaining environmental compliance of the mill, an effective quality management system, process evaluation and improvement, and laboratory functions to support these efforts. The Environmental Manager, Quality Manager, and Technical staff report to the Technical Manager. The Technical Manager also serves as the ISO Management Representative and plays a key role in achieving and sustaining ISO certification. The Product Testing Laboratory, Wet End Lab Testing Laboratory, Environmental Testing Laboratory and the Analytical Testing Laboratory are all under the management of the Technical and Environmental Department. The Technical Manager also serves as the mill Champion for the Lean Six Sigma program.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and report daily results, progress toward goals, issues, concerns of the Technical Dept.
  • Develop and review the management plan and results for the Environmental Group; ensure daily environmental compliance and reporting.
  • Develop and review the management plan and results for the Quality Group; ensure product meets customer expectations.
  • Develop and review the management plan for the Process Engineering group; drive process improvement efforts in the mill.
  • Create the departmental budgets; quarterly, monthly, and weekly forecasts, and approve purchase requisitions; manage cost to meet budget and forecasted expectations.
  • Work with the Quality Group and Operation Departments to develop root cause and corrective actions for customer complaints; visit customers as needed to collect information and maintain good customer relations.
  • Coordinate and encourage project identification, project execution and project review of Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement projects
