Job description

Magnetics, a division of Spang & Company, has an opening for a Quality Manager based in Pittsburgh, PA. This position will lead and execute the end-to-end quality control and assurance functions that ensure products conform to engineering specifications and meet customer quality requirements. 

Magnetics is a leading world supplier of precision soft magnetic components and materials to the electronics industry. We specialize in research, design, and production of high-quality powder cores, ferrite cores, and tape wound cores for applications such as chokes, inductors, filters, transformers, and power supply components for use in alternative energy, uninterrupted power supplies, telecommunications, aerospace, military, medical, and other electronics systems.

In this role, you will develop and maintain quality procedures, build a strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control procedures, and ensure product conformance to engineering and customer specifications. You will complete customer quality surveys and on-site quality audits, create control plans for raw materials, manufactured components, and finished assemblies, develop discrepant material reports for non-conforming incoming materials, and create or review corrective action reports in line with 8-D guidelines for non-conforming products. You will also support sales engineering by working closely with customers, Sales Engineers, and the Sales Department, as well as support Procurement by identifying alternative sources, materials, and components, and assist Logistics with import documentation. Additionally, you will manage and maintain ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification compliance. This position travels domestically up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, quality management, or manufacturing, and 5+ years of quality control/assurance experience. Experience in managing ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems is required. Experience in managing RoHS and REACH certifications a plus.
