Position Overview

We are looking for an Injection Molding Manager who will serve as the cornerstone of our injection molding operations. Managing all aspects of this division and, serving as

the primary point of contact for all production-related communication, both internally and with customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • **Leadership & Team Development: **Manage and build the injection molding department.This includes overseeing all production in both jobs and work schedules. Maintaining a strong team relationship is very important, handling conflict resolution with professionalism and care. This position will also include recruiting, training, and mentoring team members.
  • **System Building: **Build, maintain, and strengthen systems across scheduling, training, quality, and process documentation in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
  • **Customer Communication: **Serve as the primary point of contact for all production order-related communication, including project status updates, scheduling changes, troubleshooting, and design consultations. Strong, proactive communication with customers is a non-negotiable expectation of this role.
  • **Quoting: **Collaborate with the quoting team to develop accurate cost estimates and establish realistic project timelines.
  • **Scheduling: **Responsible for the production schedule and communicating proactively with management team on full status of each project.
  • **Process Development: **Apply and teach scientific molding principles to develop documented, repeatable processes and build internal capability across the team.
  • **Quality Ownership: **Take ownership and lead quality initiatives in the department, ensuring compliance to our ISO certification in all areas. Responsible for quality documentation related to the injection molding department.
  • **Scrap Ownership: **Take ownership of scrap tracking and reporting using existing systems. Establish acceptable scrap thresholds per job and lead root cause analysis conversations when thresholds are exceeded. Build a culture where problems are raised early and communicated clearly.
  • **New Product Launches: **Oversee newly built molds, transfer molds, products, including mold validation (IQ, OQ, PQ), troubleshooting, and production ramp-up. PPAP experience is highly valued.
  • **Internal Collaboration: **Work closely with the mold building team, ensuring smooth transitions of newly built molds.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on injection molding experience, with a demonstrated history of progressive responsibility including program launches, team development, and customer-facing communication.
  • Hands-on experience processing insert molds, overmolds, hot runner systems, and high temperature resins, with the ability to develop and document robust processes and train others.
  • Knowledge of validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ), PPAP processes, and injection molding troubleshooting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and grow a team in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
  • Lean manufacturing mindset with the ability to develop and sustain basic lean practices in a growing shop environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, maintain production schedules, and communicate proactively with both internal teams and customers.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-first approach. Ability to handle difficult conversations with professionalism and ownership.

**Preferred Skills **

  • Experience completing PFMEA documentation, particularly in PPAP contexts.
  • Experience working with quoting teams to develop cost estimates and project schedules.
  • Experience building and implementing systems and processes from the ground up in a growing organization.
