Job Title: Quality Lab TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Lab Technician to join our team. In this role, you will ensure that all prescribed testing of production batches is conducted according to established test methods and that all products meet established specifications. You will be responsible for verifying that products remain within specification at the time of filling and approving final fill check panels for production.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct quality testing on production batches, ensuring compliance with established test methods.
  • Ensure all batches meet required color limits and product specifications prior to filling.
  • Verify product specifications during filling and approve final fill check panels.
  • Perform various quality tests including color, gloss, viscosity, and physical properties.
  • Determine necessary adjustments to bring products into quality specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of batch adjustments, fill checks, and other relevant data.
  • Follow all ISO procedures and prepare fill check panels for approval.
  • Consult with the Quality Manager on various projects aimed at improving department efficiency.
  • Transfer hazardous wastes to the satellite hazardous waste area as required.
  • Adhere to labeling requirements for hazardous waste containers.
  • Complete annual RCRA training.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations and retain storage areas.
Essential Skills
  • 1-2 years of experience in a QC lab, preferably in inks, paints, or coatings.
  • Proficiency in wet chemistry and quality control testing methods.
  • Ability to conduct tests on color, gloss, viscosity, and physical properties.
  • Basic math skills, including percentages and fractions.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Industry-related QC lab experience is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with color matching and production sample pulling.
  • Outgoing personality with a willingness to ask questions and demonstrate enthusiasm.
  • Non-colorblind candidates are required, as color perception is crucial.
Work Environment

The position is primarily lab-based, with 90% of the work conducted in the lab and 10% on the floor. Employees will work with hazardous materials and must wear appropriate safety equipment such as lab glasses, button-up shirts, and pants. The role operates on a 2nd shift schedule from 2pm to 10:30pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional optional weekends when busy. The work environment is part of a Swedish family-owned company known for its supportive team and excellent benefits, including a 401k with a 3% match. Candidates should be comfortable working in a busy production environment and interacting with the team to ensure product quality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
