Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Mechanical Quality Inspector (Contractor Role) on 2nd Shift (2:30pm - 11:00pm) to join our A220 team based in Mobile, AL.

The Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for the execution and confirmation of quality inspections as part of the production process with an emphasis on the aircraft structural assemblies and components.

Your Working Environment:

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your Challenges:

Perform all defined Quality Inspection up to product delivery. Red flag all the deviation which occurs on product, equipment and tools. Verify that the industrial environment, facilities, hardware and tools respond to the operations & safety requirements.

  • Execute technical inspections in the production process of the aircraft in the context of the authorization of manufacturer operation.

  • Prepare and perform visual, incoming, first article, final inspections during aircraft manufacture for compliance with design specifications, customers and certification requirements.

  • Document the technical inspections performed in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP production orders SAP-based and the relevant IT systems by inspection remarks and complete other aircraft documents as well as prepare first article inspection reports.

  • Support troubleshooting, Functional Test Procedures(FTPs) and participate in Quality Survey requests.

  • Compile all technical data of non-conformance in order to launch the NCMS-based quality discrepancy sheets for the professional assessment in accordance with the manufacturing engineering documentation.

  • Document all the results of the technical inspector in the FLEXNET/NCMS/SAP based IT system.

  • Attain skills to perform audits of Non-Conformance Rework Orders as part of the Material Review Board (MRB).

  • Perform audits/reviews of workbooks to validate PV approval and process adherence.

  • Track and maintain components during the Non Conformance process.

  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.

  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in production line.

  • Handling and use of inspection tools of the length measuring techniques (mechanical, optical, electrical).

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Your boarding pass:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 5 years of experience in an aviation company with an emphasis on mechanical and/ or structural components and assemblies.

  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.

  • Knowledge of drawing systems, inspection plans, and inspection coordination.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools used in production line.

  • Handling and use of inspection tools for length measuring techniques (mechanical, electrical).

  • Relevant Airline/Aviation experience is desirable.

Preferred:

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant License, an A&P license including inspection authorization is preferred.

  • Experience in a Quality Inspector position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions

  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings; Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

  • Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools and equipment including hydraulic lifts and arms.

  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg.

  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.

  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.

  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.

  • Travel/Mobility: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time and on short notice.

  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces other business interactions

  • Space Limitations: Working on jigs at the fuselage at a height of 15 feet.
