QA/QC Structural Inspector

We provide specialized subcontracting and technical assistance services to support clients in the transport and aerospace industries. We work closely with clients to ensure that our solutions meet their needs and exceed their expectations. Our team members are motivated individuals that do remarkable things every day!

AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Pascagoula, MS that is the leading provider of quality construction, manufacturing, engineering, repair, and conversion products and services to the marine industry.

The QA/QC Structural Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all structural fabrication, assembly, and welding activities within the shipyard comply with project specifications, shipbuilding standards, and applicable codes.

Essential Functions:

  • Examines materials or products for surface defects, such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
  • Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
  • Verifies specified dimensions of product or material using inspection equipment.
  • Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
  • Tests products for structural defects, such as leaks and internal cracks, using water pressure tests.
  • Tests mechanisms for clearance and freedom of movement.
  • Assists the Testing and Trials department personnel with systems testing and sea trials.
  • Performs other duties as specified by the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Construction photos.
  • Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces.
  • Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5'.
  • Must be able to wear/work with a respirator when applicable.
  • Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system.
  • Other duties assigned or requested by Management.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Reports to work daily and on time

Requirements:

  • Five (5) years of manufacturing, shipyard, or quality (testing and inspecting) experience preferred.
  • Knowledge to inspect three (3) or more of the following areas: welding, machining, painting (coating), piping, mechanical, and testing.
  • Utilize more than visual inspection and testing techniques, such as NDE inspections including Radiographic film interpretation, Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UT).
  • Ability to read and interpret codes and specifications, and advanced blueprint reading.
