  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications during the inspection process.
  • Document inspection results clearly, accurately, and completely in the required formats.
  • Communicate inspection findings effectively with Quality, Machining, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain focus, accuracy, and consistency during long, detailed inspections, including inspections that may take an entire shift.
  • Perform final inspections and quality checks on completed parts prior to release.
  • Support continuous improvement and quality compliance initiatives within the machine shop environment.
  • Apply mechanical aptitude and sound judgment when evaluating nonconformances and potential quality risks.
Essential Skills

  • Proven experience inspecting machined metal parts in a production or job‑shop setting.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Hands‑on proficiency with precision inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and other precision measurement gauges.
  • Experience performing visual inspection, optical inspection, and final inspection of precision components.
  • Working knowledge of quality control, quality assurance, and quality inspection practices in a machine shop environment.
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency when measuring and recording data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document findings clearly and communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Comfort working with high‑dollar, custom parts where quality and dimensional accuracy are critical.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how part features and tolerances affect function and fit.
