SCOPE:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for the 1st piece inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection activities in the assembly departments and for measurement equipment calibrations in the facility using calibration software to track and maintain calibration records. The Quality Inspector is responsible for recording any Nonconformances found during the inspection process using the Assembly Inspection History program in the AS400 system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Dimensional inspection of components using inspection tools and gauges
  • Ensuring proper documentation is provided with shipments (material traceability reports, certificates of conformity, etc.)
  • Transacting approved material and ensure approved items are identified and staged in appropriate area to be put away
  • Equipment calibrations (calipers, torque wrenches, pressure gauges, etc.)
  • In-Process and Final inspection of machined components and final assemblies. Includes recording the inspection in the Assembly inspection History Record by use of a tablet.
  • Responsible for notifying Supervisors and QEs of any nonconforming products.

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
  • High school graduate or GED required, 4 year degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, or Manufacturing, preferred
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrate ability to interact with upper level management
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings/blueprints and how to interpret dimensional tolerances
  • Knowledge of standard inspection tools and gauges (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, plug gauges, dial indicators, optical comparator, durometer)
