Job description

Position Summary
Perform all inspections and functional testing on manufactured generator systems to ensure equipment meets applicable electrical codes, functions as designed by the specified engineer, and is safe to be energized on-site before leaving the manufacturing plant.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • NFPA 70E certification required. Certification may be provided by PowerSecure if other qualifications are satisfactory.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operations manuals, and written instructions.
  • Ability to follow reporting guidelines and accurately document test results and product specifications.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure to determine splice plate length, voltage measurements, and amperage ratios.
  • Ability to wear and maintain required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with switchgear, electrical systems, or generator systems unless applying for an apprenticeship position.
  • Engineering or programming experience may be accepted in lieu of switchgear, electrical, or generator experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of diesel engines.
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and the ability to interpret mechanical notes.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair nonconforming electrical circuits.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing and testing environment.

Essential Functions
  • Locate, organize, and maintain documentation for specific jobs.
  • Perform inspections and testing procedures in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Execute test sequences as dictated by project documentation and engineering requirements.
  • Record test results and component specifications accurately.
  • Move equipment using a forklift or pallet jack.
  • Remove and reinstall panels weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Support quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
