Job description

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the implementation, maintenance and improvement of Binghamton Quality systems in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. This includes the Quality Systems manual, quality procedures and instructions, and all quality requirements for the EOM and Repair Center. Lead the Quality Assurance (Inspection) function and work with Quality Engineers to maintain and improve on satisfactory levels of supplier quality performance and production quality performance. Interface with customers, regulatory agencies and certification bodies to ensure their satisfaction with the Binghamton Quality System and performance. Participate in the overall leadership, guidance and direction of the Binghamton plant.
This position reports directly to the PDS Director of Quality.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a Quality System in full compliance with all FAA, AS and Customer Requirements and approvals.
  • Insure training for self and applicable employees is kept in compliance per our quality standards for Final Inspection, Receiving Inspection, AS Internal Auditing and FAA required certifications.
  • Achieve all required customer approvals and regulatory approvals of the Binghamton Quality System. This includes maintaining FAA and AS certifications and approvals.
  • Develop methods to gather both internal and external quality data. Lead the analysis of this data and the preventative and correction action efforts required to improve internal quality and delivered quality to OEM customers.
  • Primary quality interface with OEM customers and other AMETEK functions and sites.
  • Provide support for the Binghamton Service Center for Quality and Audits.
  • Provide oversight of the calibration process both internal and external.
  • Improve the overall supplier quality system through effective Receiving inspection planning and effective coordination of supplier issues with other AMETEK sites that supply material to Binghamton.
  • Develop, implement and support an effective internal audit system that provides assurances that all quality system elements are effective in their implementation. This includes specific responsibility for the development and performance of the Binghamton Quality System.
  • Lead FAA DMIR activities and customer delegated source inspection activities in the plant.

Requirements for Consideration
  • BA/BS (Engineering preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on Quality Experience in an Electronics or Aerospace Manufacturing environment.
  • Experience/knowledge of Quality Systems and AS Quality Requirements.
  • Proven management and leadership skills.
  • ASQC Certification (preferred)
  • Prior Management/Leadership Experience
  • Experience/Knowledge of FAA Regulations
  • Experience with Training Development and Benchmarking
  • Experience with Manufacturing and Test of Instrumentation and Electronics
  • Experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement
  • Candidates must have good verbal and written communication skills and ability to lead independently.
  • Candidates will have demonstrated strong execution skills.
  • Experience providing proactive leadership and vision in developing and sustaining the charter for Quality activities.
  • Solid understanding of Manufacturing
