Quality Inspector / CMM Operator

Pay Rate: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour (8% differential once training is complete)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:00 PM - 5:30 AM
[Overtime and Saturdays may be required based on production demands.]

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector / CMM Operator is responsible for conducting dimensional inspections using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and other precision measuring equipment to verify compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. This position supports quality assurance initiatives, maintains accurate inspection documentation, and ensures compliance with ISO 17025 quality requirements within a laboratory and manufacturing environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in quality inspection, calibration, metrology, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Previous hands-on experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) is required.
  • Experience performing dimensional inspections in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a calibration or metrology environment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 17025 quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), or equivalent quality certification required.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, gauge blocks, and other inspection equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime and Saturdays as required.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Operate CMM equipment to inspect manufactured components and verify dimensional compliance.
  • Perform detailed dimensional inspections using CMMs and conventional measuring equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Generate, review, and maintain inspection reports and quality documentation.
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on company and customer-owned products.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 17025 quality standards and internal quality procedures.
  • Document inspection results, nonconformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and rework documentation.
  • Identify quality concerns and communicate findings to production, engineering, and management teams.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality objectives.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands for operating measuring equipment and inspection tools.
  • Ability to reach, bend, and perform repetitive motions as needed.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the shift.
