Job Title: Quality Inspector

Location: Princeton, IL (Relocation Not Available)

Employment Type: Contract

Shift: 1st shift - 6:30 am to 3:00 pm Mon-Fri

Pay: $18.50


Job Summary

MS Companies is supporting a confidential manufacturing client in Princeton, IL in the search for a 1st Shift Quality Inspector to support production through routine audits and dimensional inspections. This is a hands-on, plant-floor role focused on ensuring parts conform to engineering prints, specifications, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has prior manufacturing quality inspection experience, is comfortable working independently on 1st shift, and stays close to production to catch issues early, contain nonconforming material, and communicate findings through clear documentation and shift handoff notes. This is an execution-focused quality role (not engineering) with direct impact on scrap reduction and overall plant performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a Quality Inspector / Quality Technician role in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and dimensional requirements
  • Hands-on experience using inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and recordkeeping
  • Ability to perform visual and mechanical inspections and follow standard work
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to escalate issues to supervisors and quality leadership
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • CMM experience or familiarity with CMM inspection processes
  • Experience performing routine dimensional audits in production
  • Experience supporting containment actions and handling nonconforming material
  • Experience collecting quality data and assisting with reporting and trend tracking
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform dimensional and mechanical inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and prevent quality escapes
  • Conduct routine dimensional audits, document results, and maintain quality records
  • Contain and log nonconforming material per standard work and communicate issues quickly
  • Collect and record quality data; support basic reporting and documentation
  • Support quality tasks as assigned by Quality Engineer/QC Leadership
  • Work closely with production supervisors and operators to identify and address quality concerns
  • Remain on the plant floor the majority of the shift to support inspection coverage and troubleshooting
  • Support overtime as needed based on production demands
Physical and Environment Requirements

Physical expectations and working conditions associated with this role may include standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods; occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs); and working primarily in a manufacturing environment with typical plant-floor conditions. PPE is required while on the floor.
