The Receiving Inspection Manager is responsible for managing the personnel, processes and related activities for the acceptance and processing of purchased materials for L3Harris, Communications Systems West (CSW). The Receiving Inspection Manager will lead a team of quality personnel in a variety of verification activities assuring compliance of purchased material to CSW Quality Management System (QMS). Fundamental to the Receiving Inspection Manager's responsibility is the ability to effectively and efficiently lead others in the various Quality disciplines, working with Operations leadership to deliver high quality purchased items on schedule. The Receiving Inspection Manager will identify opportunities, and develop a variety of improvement solutions with associated business case analysis.

Essential Functions:

  • Strong business acumen and a proven ability to develop a business case for change, including an understanding of return on investment (ROI)
  • Experience in the development and use of critical information / metrics to analyze trends and monitor budgets for the purpose of improving the business
  • Experience in managing a team of individuals who perform critical Quality functions for the acceptance of components and products related to Aerospace and Defense contracts
  • Experience in writing and updating Quality Assurance procedures
  • Experience in control of non-conforming material and Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Experience in a variety of root cause analysis techniques
  • Experience in developing Inspection Plans and First Article Inspection (FAI) reports using engineering drawings and engineering model data
  • Experience in Aerospace and Defense best practices concerning workmanship requirements, including commercial off the shelf (COTS) items
  • Expertise in the prevention of defects
  • Understanding of FOD and ESD control
  • Experience collaborating with other members of management, fostering an environment of trust and mutual respect to develop and improve new processes, tools, and training methods
  • Approach problem resolution with team-oriented, requirement-compliant decisions, utilizing value-based judgment and experience
  • Possesses a diverse background in a variety of Quality related disciplines (e.g.; Quality Engineering; CMM Operation/Programming; Mechanical Inspection Techniques, Material Hardness Testing)
  • Experience and knowledge in the interpretation and application of Aerospace, Defense, and Industry Standards (e.g. AS9100, AS9102, AS5553, Mil-Std-1520, Mil-Std-129, Mil-Std-130, IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.24)
  • Ability to collect metrics and create reports by analyzing and summarizing information to spot trends and monitor results
  • Possess the ability to schedule and assign employees tasks and responsibilities; to monitor the work product of the Receiving Inspection employees and follow up on work results
  • Develop the Receiving Inspection team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, and disciplining employees
  • Enhance personal and team technical knowledge by seeking and providing necessary training
  • Support financial objectives by monitoring department budgets, analyzing variances, and taking corrective action as needed

Required Qualifications (one of the following):

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline, Engineering preferred and minimum 9 years of current Quality Assurance Management experience
  • Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Aerospace and Defense Industry preferred
  • This position requires experience with and knowledge of AS5553
  • This position requires geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience
  • Must have First Article Inspection experience, AS9102 certification preferred
  • An MBA degree and 7 years of Quality Engineering Management experience or Quality Assurance Management experience is preferred
  • Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office software suite
  • Hands on experience with ERP systems
