Job Title: Starbucks Shift Supervisor Location: 17th St Starbucks, Ocean City
This is a full-time, year-round position (not seasonal)
Basic Purpose:
The Starbucks Shift Supervisor is responsible for supporting daily store operations by leading a team of baristas, ensuring a consistently high level of customer service, and maintaining Starbucks' operational standards. This role balances supervisory responsibilities with hands-on service, acting as the leader on duty to guide the team, resolve customer concerns, and ensure smooth cafรฉ operations.
Organizational Scope:
The Shift Supervisor works closely with the General Manager to oversee the daily performance of the cafรฉ. This position leads and motivates team members during assigned shifts, provides training and guidance, and ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, and health regulations. The Shift Supervisor fosters a positive and collaborative work environment, driving both customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Essential Functions:
  1. Lead and supervise baristas during assigned shifts to ensure exceptional customer service.
  2. Must be available for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Schedule may vary based on store needs.
  3. Act as the supervisor on duty, supporting the team and ensuring adherence to Starbucks' operational policies and procedures.
  4. Prepare and serve beverages and food items, maintaining beverage quality and consistency.
  5. Train, mentor, and coach new and existing team members on service standards and store procedures.
  6. Assist with opening and closing duties, including preparing registers, balancing tills, and securing cash deposits.
  7. Monitor store cleanliness and sanitation, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  8. Assist in managing inventory, stocking supplies, and monitoring product levels.
  9. Address and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  10. Support scheduling adjustments and staffing coverage during peak hours.
  11. Model Starbucks' mission and values, fostering teamwork, inclusivity, and a positive store culture.
  12. Promote seasonal offerings, loyalty programs, and customer engagement initiatives.
  13. Perform additional duties assigned by the General Manager.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
  1. At least one year of food and beverage or customer service experience required.
  2. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
This role requires prolonged periods of standing and walking during shifts. Must be able to operate cafรฉ equipment such as espresso machines and blenders safely. The individual must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, bend, and reach as needed. Clear verbal communication is required to interact with customers and team members.
