Job description

Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experiencedย Plastics Engineer (Injection Molding)ย to support manufacturing operations by developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting injection molding processes. This role plays a critical part in ensuring consistent product quality, improving efficiency, and supporting new product development.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in plastics injection molding, tooling, and process optimization, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and production excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot injection molding processes to improve efficiency and product quality
  • Manage key custom customer projects and serve as the primary technical point of contact
  • Read and interpret blueprints and 3D CAD files
  • Utilizeย SolidWorksย and other CAD tools to support design and manufacturing processes
  • Review and approve tooling designs and engineering changes
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure proper production setup and tooling performance
  • Work with external vendors for mold repairs and tooling support
  • Support new product launches, including tooling validation and process setup
  • Identify and implement process improvements to:
    • Reduce scrap
    • Improve cycle times
    • Enhance overall production performance
  • Provide technical guidance on materials, equipment, and molding techniques

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree (or higher) in Engineering
  • Plastics Engineering or related field preferred

Experience:

  • Minimumย 10 years of experienceย in plastics injection molding
  • Strong experience with tooling, materials, and molding processes
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and process improvement initiatives

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficiency with:
    • SolidWorks
    • AutoCAD
    • IQMSย (or similar ERP/manufacturing systems)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Mold design and mold building
    • Raw materials and resin behavior
    • Injection molding equipment and techniques
  • Ability to analyze production data and implement process improvements
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities
