Position Summary:
Accountable to the North America I&C Quality Manager and Plant Manager, the Quality Manager position is responsible for managing, implementing, and facilitating Quality Assurance and supporting Continuous Improvement programs within the plant. In this function, the Quality Manager assures that all products produced and shipped conform to the applicable specifications and quality levels established by Prysmian and the customer. As part of the Plant Management Team, the Quality Manager is also responsible for ensuring the plant meets its stated business objectives. The Quality Manager also maintains the plant's ISO 9001 accreditation and effective contact with customers and external accreditation representatives.
Principal Functional Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements, as necessary, Quality Assurance and Continual Improvement programs to ensure effective ongoing product quality.
  • Supports the plant's Continuous Improvement program.
  • Manages and directs required testing throughout all processes.
  • Provides analyzed data reports as necessary to support the plant.
  • Recruits quality assurance associates, as appropriate, and provides the necessary training so that their work is in accordance with stated procedures.
  • Responsible for the Quality Management System and external audits.
  • Interfaces with customers and regulatory agency inspection representatives during plant visits and scheduled audits (UL, ETL, ABS, Etc.).
  • Investigates field issues and customer returns, as necessary, to ensure effective corrective action is taken to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensures effective operation of the plant as a member of the Plant Management Team.
  • Provides effective communication to internal and external customers on matters relating to quality.

Key Requirements:
  • A results driven individual who has demonstrated an ability working in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance techniques and Lean Sigma tools.
  • Must have good attention to details but be able to manage the bigger picture.
  • Must be able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with often conflicting priorities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.
  • Solid planning, leadership and administrative skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.
  • High energy demonstrates urgency and fast pace.
  • Good understanding of business principles and practices.

  • 2+ years' experience in quality engineering working in manufacturing environment.

Education:
  • BS degree in quality assurance, engineering or related practical science: with a strong foundation in the application of quality and Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques.
  • HS Diploma with equivalent / relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
