What does a Quality Engineer Associate do?

A Quality Engineer Associate supports the quality assurance and control processes within manufacturing or production environments. Their responsibilities typically include inspecting products, monitoring production processes, assisting with quality audits, and helping to implement quality standards and procedures. They work closely with senior quality engineers and production teams to identify defects, resolve quality issues, and ensure that products meet required specifications. This entry-level role is a great starting point for a career in quality engineering, as it provides hands-on experience with quality systems and tools.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

While most engineering roles do not reach a $500,000 annual salary, some highly specialized or senior-level engineers such as petroleum engineers, aerospace engineers, or those in executive or consulting positions can earn this level of income, often with extensive experience, advanced certifications, or ownership stakes. Compensation at this level typically involves base salary, bonuses, stock options, or profit sharing.

Experience in wire and cable manufacturing, particularly low-voltage wire, is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and assist in setting up the Quality System for Sequel’s new Low Voltage operations, ensuring it aligns with established processes and standards in the OEM building. Support integration of documentation, quality controls, and reporting systems to maintain consistency across both operations.

Customer & Supplier Quality

  • Review and disposition items in the RMA area, logging all findings for traceability.
  • Prepare and submit PPAPs, test reports, certificates of conformance, and other customer-required documentation.

  • Support sustainability and compliance documentation for governing regulations.

Calibration & Testing

  • Schedule, conduct, and log calibration of all testing equipment.
  • Order and maintain testing tools and equipment.
  • Conduct internal product testing to ensure compliance with customer and agency specifications.

Quality Control & Reporting

  • Track daily and month-to-date production metrics.
  • Review daily production sheets for Percent to BOM and Percent to Package, investigating any abnormalities (exceeding ±3%).
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

Quality Assurance & Auditing

  • Manage the internal and external Quality Log and ensure accurate, timely updates for monthly reporting.
  • Lead and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and manage document control systems, work instructions, and audit binders.

Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and deliver training or retraining programs on quality processes and standards.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives, SPC, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, forms, and process guides to ensure consistent product quality.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve wire and cable manufacturing processes.
  • Support ERP and data systems for quality tracking, documentation, and communication.
  • Participate in new product launches to ensure all quality and agency requirements are met.
Requirements:
