Job description

The Quality Technician Specialist II is responsible for advanced calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of sophisticated measuring equipment. This role plays a key part in ensuring the precision and reliability of all measurement instruments within the organization.The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains - air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced calibration of electronic test and signal generating equipment.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting and maintenance on various measuring instruments.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive calibration schedules to ensure timely availability of equipment.
  • Assist in the development of pre-operational and periodic maintenance checklists.
  • Interpret detailed schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals for effective equipment maintenance.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in calibration and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure all calibration documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Execute daily nonconforming material (NC) management activities, prioritizing ReturntoVendor actions.
  • Communicate issues to Quality Engineering for quick evaluation and disposition.
  • Keep NC documentation current and support training efforts.
  • Support Operations and Engineering from proposal through product selloff.
  • Collaborate across functions to reduce NC cycle time.
    Partner with Quality Engineering on QA procedures and inspection plans.
  • Use apps/tools to gather and analyze data, identify trends, and drive corrective actions.
  • Derive and interpret quality requirements from contracts, T&Cs, SOWs, and requirement lists.
  • Support development of Quality Requirement Lists (QRLs) and Quality Inspection Plans.
  • Apply Quality Codes to purchase requests.
  • Assist with internal audits to ensure program compliance.
  • Coordinate with customer/government quality reps (e.g., DCMA, source inspectors).
  • Support Product Assurance Inspection teams as needed.
  • Assist with QMS program, process, and procedure audits.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong crossfunctional relationships and act as liaison between Program Management, Operations, and Quality.
  • Maintain understanding of the NC management system.
  • Support Corrective Action Request (CAR) management.
  • Manage and maintain PAQuality documentation.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Associate's degree in a related field of study.
  • 1+ years of experience in a related field, preferably in the same industry.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 3 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical schematics and diagrams.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical electrical and mechanical drawings, parts lists and test procedures and most importantly processing non-conforming material from identification through disposition and closure.
  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Effective teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with MS Office.
  • Must have testing and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have ability to work with standard test equipment, including calibration and tool control.
  • Knowledge with ISO Policy and Procedure, The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards, and manufacturer specifications.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001/AS 9100 standards and compliance to QMS.
  • IPC 610, 620, J-STD-01Certifications, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during the work shift.
  • Good hand/finger dexterity for handling small components and tools.
  • Ability to work in a controlled environment, with potential exposure to loud noises.
  • Potential requirement to travel for training or field support (up to 10%).
