Quality Control Program Manager information

What is a quality control program manager?

Quality Control Program Managers are professionals who oversee and coordinate quality assurance activities within an organization. They develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems to ensure that products or services meet established standards and regulatory requirements. These managers lead teams, conduct audits and inspections, analyze quality data, and collaborate with other departments to resolve quality issues. Their role is critical in minimizing defects, improving processes, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

How does a quality control program manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product standards are met?

A Quality Control Program Manager regularly works alongside teams such as manufacturing, engineering, regulatory affairs, and supply chain to align quality standards across all stages of production. This collaboration often involves participating in cross-functional meetings, reviewing process documentation, and leading corrective action initiatives when deviations occur. By fostering open communication and implementing feedback loops, the manager ensures that quality objectives are understood and met company-wide, minimizing errors and supporting continuous improvement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a quality control program manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Quality Control Program Manager, you need expertise in quality assurance methodologies, data analysis, and process improvement, often supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with quality management systems (such as ISO 9001), Six Sigma certification, and proficiency in statistical software are typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help you lead teams and drive compliance. These competencies are crucial to ensure product quality, regulatory adherence, and continuous organizational improvement.

Job description

Summary: Kovach Enclosure Systems is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager - Metal Division to support our growing operations and help drive excellence in façade installation across our projects. This role is ideal for a field-experienced metal façade professional who understands how quality is built in the field, not just inspected at the end. The position requires strong knowledge of metal panel systems, flashing, waterproofing, and façade installation practices, along with the ability to work closely with field teams to ensure projects are installed correctly the first time
The Quality Control Manager will play a key role in reinforcing installation standards, supporting field leadership, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across our projects.

Our employees are the driving force behind everything we achieve, which is why we proudly offer an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). This program allows you to become an owner of the company, giving you a direct stake in its growth and prosperity. As the company continues to succeed, so does the value of your shares, offering you a powerful opportunity to build wealth and benefit from our long-term success. With an ESOP, your contributions directly impact both your future and the company's future, creating a true partnership in our continued growth.
Our Core Values:
  • Positivity: Easy to work with, trusting, team player, and good communicator.
  • Own it: Reliable, responsible, follows through, trustworthy, thorough.
  • Expertise: Intelligent, innovative, and coachable.
  • Grit: Tough, strong work ethic, and finds a way to get it done.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform jobsite quality inspections on active metal façade projects
  • Work directly with Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers to ensure installation meets project specifications and industry standards
  • Identify potential quality issues early and help implement corrective solutions
  • Verify proper installation of metal panel systems, flashing, waterproofing, sub-framing, and related components
  • Assist with mockups, first-article inspections, and critical installation milestones
  • Document findings through digital inspection reports and communicate results to project teams
  • Support development and implementation of standards of work and installation best practices
  • Promote a proactive quality culture focused on prevention rather than correction
  • Travel to project sites as needed to support field operations
  • Support and observe ASTM water testing procedures, including AAMA 501.2 nozzle testing and ASTM E1105 field water penetration testing
  • Work with third-party testing agencies, general contractors, and project teams to ensure testing is conducted properly and deficiencies are addressed

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial façade construction with emphasis on metal panel systems
  • Strong background running work in the field (Foreman or Superintendent level experience preferred)
  • Deep understanding of building envelope systems, including flashing, waterproofing, and façade sequencing
  • Experience supporting or participating in field water testing and façade performance testing
  • Familiarity with ASTM E1105 and AAMA 501.2 testing procedures preferred
  • Ability to walk active construction sites regularly and observe installation details
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify installation deficiencies
  • Comfortable using technology and digital reporting platforms for inspections and documentation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field teams and project leadership
  • Experience working on large commercial construction projects is preferred

What We're Looking For
  • A field-first leader who understands how work actually gets installed
  • Someone who can coach teams toward better quality, not just point out issues
  • A professional who takes pride in building things the right way
  • A person who values continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork
