Job Title: Quality Control Manager

Job Description

This role leads the quality control program for a major, multi‑year renovation project valued at $127 million in Fairfax, VA. The Quality Control Manager oversees demolition, restructuring, and new vertical construction, ensuring that all work meets stringent local, state, and federal standards. You design, implement, and manage the full QC program, working closely with project leadership and field teams to deliver a safe, compliant, and high‑quality project over a planned duration of three or more years.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage the entire quality control (QC) program for a large‑scale renovation and vertical construction project.
  • Oversee quality control activities across demolition, restructuring, and new construction phases to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Attend all post‑award conferences, including CQC plan meetings, coordination meetings, and mutual understanding meetings, representing the QC function and providing expert input.
  • Conduct regular Construction Quality Control (CQC) meetings with project stakeholders to review progress, address issues, and align on quality expectations.
  • Perform the three phases of the quality control process, including preparatory, initial, and follow‑up inspections, and document findings thoroughly.
  • Review and approve project submittals to ensure materials, methods, and equipment meet contract requirements and quality standards.
  • Ensure all required testing is performed in accordance with project specifications, USACE standards, and applicable codes, and verify that results are accurately recorded and acted upon.
  • Monitor field work for adherence to safety and OSHA compliance standards, collaborating with site teams to correct deficiencies promptly.
  • Inspect work related to vertical construction, including structural elements and building systems, to confirm quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Interpret and review blueprints and construction documents, and provide clear, written referrals or recommendations to project teams when discrepancies or improvements are identified.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal project stakeholders as needed to maintain regulatory compliance and address quality‑related concerns.
  • Maintain detailed QC documentation, including reports, logs, and records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement of QC processes by identifying recurring issues and recommending preventive measures.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, project executives, and field supervisors to align QC activities with schedule, budget, and overall project goals.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in quality control management within vertical construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction quality control practices, including implementation of comprehensive QC programs.

Pay and Benefits

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
