Job description

Overview

The Quality Control Specialist I will support Bio-Rad's commitment to quality and safety by analyzing the functional performance of raw and in-process materials for use in BioPlex products. The majority of materials will be tested on the BioPlex instrument and will support production of reagent kits for the BioPlex product line. Additional duties will include maintaining lab space, performing small scale bead couplings, preparing small scale solutions, managing inventory of materials for use, and maintaining lab equipment. As a part of Quality Control team, you'll apply your science knowledge while testing raw and in-process materials according to FDA/ISO regulated manufacturing and per document methods employing Good Laboratory & Manufacturing Practices. This role is critical in maintaining the overall quality of Bio-Rad's products and services.

How You'll Make An Impact: 

  • Preparing materials to conduct quality checks: Your primary responsibility as a QC Specialist is performing testing to assess functional performance of incoming raw and in-process materials to ensure that they meet the required specifications. During analysis, you can identify any defects or inconsistencies that may affect the quality of the material and take necessary corrective actions.
  • Identifying and addressing quality issues: By identifying quality issues and raising them to the attention of the appropriate individuals or teams, you can help prevent problems from recurring and ensure that the products and processes meet the required standards. Additionally, by contributing to the continuous improvement of the processes, you can help minimize errors and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborating with other teams: As a QC Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work with different teams in the organization, including materials management, manufacturing, R&D, and quality assurance. By effectively collaborating with these teams, you can contribute to the overall success of the organization by providing critical feedback on quality issues and working together to improve processes and products.

What You Bring: 

  • Education: BS/BA degree in the physical sciences or equivalent, basic working knowledge of laboratory environments and computer software programs.
  • Work Experience: 0-2 years experience in a general laboratory environment performing analyses in the areas of chemistry, biochemistry, or associated areas of life sciences, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Attention to detail. The main role of Quality Control is to ensure that materials and products meet specific standards which requires and a high level of attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Analytical skills. In order to identify issues or areas for improvement, QC Specialist candidates need to be able to analyze data and information quickly and accurately and problem solve effectively. Strong analytical skills are essential for success in this field.
  • Time management. QC Specialist candidates must be self-motivated to be able to prioritize their work, manage their time effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.

Location: This position must be based in Woodinville, Washington and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,170 to $89,600 annually, at the time of posting.  Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
