Quality Control Intern information

What does a quality control intern do?

A Quality Control Intern assists in monitoring and ensuring the quality of products or services within an organization. Their responsibilities typically include conducting inspections, testing materials or products, reporting defects, and helping to maintain documentation for quality standards. They work under the supervision of experienced quality control professionals and gain hands-on experience with quality assurance processes, tools, and industry regulations. This role helps interns develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills while learning about the company's quality management systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a quality control intern?

To thrive as a Quality Control Intern, you typically need attention to detail, basic knowledge of quality assurance principles, and coursework or a degree in a relevant field such as science or engineering. Familiarity with laboratory equipment, data analysis software, and quality management systems like ISO standards is often required. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to learn help interns excel in team environments and adapt quickly. These skills are important to ensure products meet standards, minimize errors, and maintain a company's reputation for quality.

What types of projects or tasks can a quality control intern expect to be involved with during their internship?

As a Quality Control Intern, you will typically participate in tasks such as inspecting products or materials for defects, conducting tests to ensure compliance with quality standards, and assisting in the documentation and analysis of quality data. Interns often work closely with quality engineers and production teams to identify process improvements and support corrective action efforts. This hands-on experience provides valuable exposure to industry regulations, testing protocols, and problem-solving within a team-oriented environment.

How to get into quality control intern with no experience?

To become a quality control intern with no experience, focus on developing attention to detail, basic knowledge of quality standards, and familiarity with inspection tools. Gaining relevant skills through online courses or certifications in quality management can improve your chances, and applying to entry-level positions or internships that offer training can provide practical experience.

Job description

Project Intern – Fall 2026 (Part-Time)

We are seeking a part-time Project Intern to join our Atlanta team for the Fall 2026 semester. This opportunity is designed for students who want to gain meaningful, hands-on experience while continuing their academic studies. B&D leads the planning, development, and management of the places that shape and strengthen our communities. Interns at B&D are active contributors to real client engagements—not observers—working alongside experienced advisors on projects at the intersection of real estate, planning, finance, and strategy.

If you're intellectually curious, enjoy solving complex problems, and want to make a meaningful impact while building your professional experience, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

As a Project Intern, you will play a dynamic role on project teams by supporting research, data analytics, synthesis, and project delivery across a range of client engagements. You'll collaborate closely with experienced professionals and contribute meaningfully to real-world projects while developing the analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills essential to advisory work.

How You'll Contribute
  • Perform data collection and analysis to support client engagements, including:
    • Market and industry research
    • Focus group facilitation and reporting
    • In-person and telephone interviews
    • Survey design and analysis
    • Space planning support
    • Financial modeling and quantitative analysis
    • Internet and secondary research
  • Synthesize and translate complex information into clear, actionable insights that equip clients to make effective decisions.
  • Develop accurate, well-organized presentation materials, financial models, and other project deliverables that support the team's storytelling and recommendation development.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support critical thinking, analysis, and the development of recommendations.
  • Support quality control and client satisfaction efforts specific to assigned projects.
  • Contribute to the firm's research and development efforts by identifying new analytical tools, strengthening existing models, and exploring improved ways of working.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing thoughtfully and proactively to team and firm success.
What We're Looking For
  • Current undergraduate (junior or senior preferred) or graduate student pursuing a degree in real estate, urban planning, architecture, business, finance, construction management, economics, higher education administration, or a related field.
  • Directly related work or internship experience in real estate, urban planning, economic development, finance, or construction is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and professionally.
  • Highly motivated and able to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Resourceful in gathering, organizing, and evaluating data and information.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Familiarity with real estate, finance, and basic accounting principles.
  • Proven adaptability, flexibility, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to work part-time from our Atlanta office throughout the fall semester.
  • Clear alignment with and support for the firm's mission, values, and operating philosophy.
Why People Choose B&D
  • Impactful Mission – Be part of meaningful work that helps shape the places where people live, learn, work, and connect.
  • Learning & Growth – Gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development while working alongside industry experts.
  • Strong Culture – Entrepreneurial thinking, collaboration, intellectual curiosity, integrity, and excellence drive how we work together.
  • Meaningful Experience – Interns contribute to real client work, develop valuable skills, and make an impact from day one.
Apply Today!

To get started, our application process includes a resume, an optional (recommended) cover letter, and a short set of essential questions. We look forward to learning more about you and how you can contribute to our team.

This role's target hourly pay rate is currently $18.00-25.00/hr. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors unique to each candidate, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education, experience, certifications, candidate abilities, and pay relative to other team members.
