Job description

The Instrument man’s primary function is to assist Party Chief with survey operations. The Instrument man is responsible for total station setup and operating electronic data collectors. All project survey points must be retained for company records and archived. In addition, the Instrument Man will assist with multiple project sites, safety for himself and others around him. The position consists of but is not limited to the following duties:

  • Assist in the Survey Layout operation
  • Experience using Total Stations and /or GPS equipment
  • Recording data points into a surveyor’s logbook
  • Completing all tasks assigned by Supervisors
  • Using handheld tools for various tasks
  • Understanding project blueprints
  • Calculating information using basic math skills
  • Operating a company vehicle
