Job Title: Quality Control Inspector

Job Description

This role focuses on performing precise quality control inspections on parts for compressors, valves, and a wide range of rotating equipment in a large, modern service and repair shop. The Quality Control Inspector verifies that all components meet exact dimensional and documentation requirements by reading blueprints, using precision measuring tools, and completing detailed inspection records in the computer system.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control inspections on parts for compressors, valves, and various types of rotating equipment received from customers.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings to understand dimensional and tolerance requirements.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers to measure internal diameters (ID), outside diameters (OD), bores, threads, and lengths of parts down to tenths of thousandths of an inch.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections and visual inspections to verify that parts meet quality and specification standards.
  • Upload drawings into the computer system and maintain accurate inspection documentation and records.
  • Apply quality assurance and QC testing practices to ensure consistent and reliable inspection results.
  • Work closely with machinists, mechanics, and other shop personnel to address nonconformances and clarify specifications.
  • Support inspection activities in a rotating equipment shop environment, including compressors and related components.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing information, assisting coworkers, and participating in problem-solving.
  • Follow all safety requirements and use appropriate personal protective equipment while working on the shop floor.
