Job Descriptionย 

Job Purpose:ย 

The Quality Controlย Leadย is responsible forย leading the daily quality controlย operationsย within ourย packing and cold storage facilities. This role overseesย the quality control inspectorsย and ensures consistent application ofย companyย inspection standards,ย product specifications andย verifies compliance with customerย requirementsย while fostering a culture of continuous improvement,ย accountabilityย and food safety.ย ย 

Dutiesย & Responsibilities:ย 

  • Lead andย assistย in the supervision of daily activities of the quality control teamย 

  • Assign inspection responsibilitiesย to inspectors during receiving, shipping, rework, repack and packing activitiesย ย 

  • Provide training and coaching to quality controlย inspectors andย monitorย inspector performanceย 

  • Ensure inspection procedures are performed accurately and consistentlyย 

  • Perform quality inspections of incoming and outgoing berry shipmentsย including during any packing, repacking, or reworking activitiesย ย 

  • Verifyย productย compliance with customer specifications, USDA grade standards, companyย product specificationsย ย 

  • Perform routineย verification of inspectionsย to ensure consistency among inspectorsย 

  • Provide support in theย decision-makingย processย for the dispositionย ofย questionableย productย including holds, rejections,ย releaseย and reworkย 

  • Complyย withย GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), sanitation procedures, and food safety requirements.ย 

  • Participate inย inspector calibration exercises and annual quality training.ย 

  • Monitor productย shelf-lifeย programsย and inventory rotationย 

  • Perform other qualityย controlย duties as assigned.ย ย 

  • Travel to other remote locations asย needed for supportย 

Skills/Qualifications:ย 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.ย 

  • Minium ofย 2-5 yearsโ€™ย experienceย in fresh produce quality assurance, agriculture, foodย manufacturingย or warehouse operationsย ย 

  • Knowledge ofย USDA Grade Standards and Inspection Proceduresย 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic quality management systemsย 

  • Excellentย organizationalย andย communicationย skillsย 

  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional mannerย 

  • Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance, and ability to work overtime, nights and weekends if neededย 

  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop employeesย 

  • Bilingual English andย Spanish languageย proficiencyย (reading, writing, and speaking) is preferred but notย required.ย 

Physical Demandsย and Working Conditions:ย 

  • Required to stand forย long periodsย of timeย 

  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, push, pull and perform repetitive motionsย 

  • Must be able to lift 20-30lbs as neededย 

  • Must be willing to work in a refrigerated warehouse environment of 33ยบF โ€“ 40ยบFย ย
