Quality Control Chemist

Shift: 2nd shift (M-F 2-10pm)

Job Description

The Quality Control Chemist performs analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet established specifications and quality standards. This role also supports investigations into product and process issues, assists in resolving customer concerns, and maintains accurate laboratory records and documentation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing using laboratory equipment and approved methods.
  • Accurately document test results and perform required calculations.
  • Report out-of-specification results and support corrective actions.
  • Assist with investigations related to product quality, process issues, and customer concerns.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine troubleshooting, and ensure proper calibration.
  • Follow GMP, HACCP, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Manage laboratory records, databases, reports, and chemical documentation.
  • Maintain organized storage of chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Monitor quality trends and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Support method validation, method development, and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a scientific discipline (such as Chemistry or related sciences).
  • At least 2 years of quality control laboratory experience with analytical instrumentation is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation, including ICP and HPLC.
  • Ability to perform method validations and accurately interpret analytical data.
  • Experience with ICP-MS for analysis of heavy metals and minerals is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with gas chromatography and GC-MS techniques.

Work Environment

This role is based in a whey protein manufacturing facility that produces human nutrition and dietary supplement products. The Quality Control Chemist works in a laboratory setting within the plant, using analytical instrumentation such as ICP, ICP-MS, HPLC, gas chromatography, and GC-MS to test ingredients and finished products. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday on an afternoon shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., supporting production operations and timely quality testing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wautoma, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
