Position Overview

We are seeking a Staff Associate to join our growing team, contributing to projects across environmental, civil, and construction material testing disciplines. This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills and gain hands-on experience. You will be a vital part of our project teams, supporting senior staff and learning the ins and outs of engineering consulting from the ground up.

Our Regional Quality Assurance group focuses on serving projects for our solid waste and power industry clients

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day project management responsibilities, including assisting with developing proposals, cost estimates, and reporting of field activities.

  • Perform site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.

ELL Specific Duties
  • Conduct ELL testing on various containment systems, including those on rooftops, landfills, active construction areas, etc.

  • Operate specialized ELL equipment to identify potential breaches in membrane systems across diverse project environments.

  • Mark areas of concern on-site and provide accurate documentation of findings.

  • Prepare detailed summary reports and aerial maps to show the locations of leaks and recommend corrective measures.

  • Maintain and calibrate ELL equipment to ensure accurate performance for all types of membrane systems.

  • Travel to project sites across the U.S. (primarily in the southeast) for on-site testing and assessments.

  • Work closely with BLE's project managers and clients to ensure timely and clear communication of findings.

  • Follow BLE's safety protocols and industry standards for all testing performed.

  • Continuously update skills and knowledge to stay current with advances in leak detection technology and membrane applications.

CQC Specific Duties
  • Working under the immediate supervision of a CQC project manager, alongside general contractors, to perform the required construction materials (soil, concrete, aggregates, geosynthetics, etc.) sampling, testing, and inspection services at various construction projects. You observe general contractor activities, perform onsite testing, and reporting of earthwork construction as well as landfill geosynthetic baseliner, closure cap, piping, and gas extraction systems.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • Associate's degree

  • 0-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields

  • Required to travel regularly to local and regional project sites, including overnight stays, and perform extensive fieldwork under varying environmental conditions, including uneven terrain and potentially hazardous environments, while adhering strictly to health and safety protocols.
