Job description

Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Senior Construction Quality Control (QC) Engineer II to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).ย

The Senior Construction Quality Control (QC) Engineer II provides quality control support to operations and project teams for construction projects. This support includes performing quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of operations (welding inspection only for operations), and project activities.ย 

Responsibilities
  • Directs personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
  • Reviews design output documents in accordance with approved procedures to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages.
  • Coordinates with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provides status of the inspection/test activities to stakeholders for the work activity.
  • Reviews technical criteria, personnel qualifications and work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of inspections.
  • Directs the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers and other inspection personnel as assigned.
  • Performs or leads the performance of inspection, witness, test and/or surveillance, and documents the results of the inspection activities.
  • Assists in resolution of complex codes, specifications and drawing interpretations. Leads the performance of inspection, witness, test, and surveillance of the inspection activities, and ensures the results are documented.
  • Assesses the completeness of quality related activities and verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover.
  • Reviews suppliers and/or subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance.
  • Approves suppliers and/or subcontract invoices and application for payment prior to submission to procurement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (engineering or science) and relevant work experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering in the fields of operations, maintenance, construction or industrial manufacturing as detailed in the job description; or
  • Bachelor's degree in a non-technical discipline and relevant work experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering in the fields of operations, maintenance, construction or industrial manufacturing as detailed in the job description; or
  • Associate's degree and relevant work experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering in the fields of operations, maintenance, construction or industrial manufacturing as detailed in the job description; or
  • High School Diploma/GED and relevant work experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering in the fields of operations, maintenance, construction or industrial manufacturing as detailed in the job description.

Additional Information:

  • A two-year technical diploma will be considered equivalent to an Associate's degree.
  • Certification with continuing technical training is required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities. Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas
