ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality construction building materials in the United States, has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Technician in the asphalt division at our Waldorf, MD location. A Quality Control Technician is responsible for testing raw materials and finished asphalt to ensure they meet required specifications and industry standards, while also monitoring production processes, performing lab and field tests, and documenting results to maintain consistent quality and compliance

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Ensure asphalt materials meet quality and safety standards through regular testing
  • Monitor daily production processes for consistency and efficiency
  • Perform lab and field tests on raw materials and finished product
  • Record, analyze, and report test results accurately
  • Identify quality issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations and company standards
  • Calibrate and maintain testing equipment
  • Collaborate with plant operators and project teams to resolve issues
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in production and quality control
  • Assist with audits, inspections, and documentation readiness
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
  • Field of Study Preferred: Civil Engineering, Construction Management
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in asphalt, construction, or materials testing.
  • Proficent in Microsoft Office - SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing)
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, ASTM, and AASHTO standards and specifications.
  • Experience developing and implementing quality control plans and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of asphalt materials, mix designs, and production processes
  • Familiarity with industry standards and quality control testing procedures (e.g., sampling, density, gradation)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret test data and identify trends or inconsistencies
  • Proven attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate, thorough documentation
  • Ability to adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements in both lab and field environments
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across production, operations, and project teams
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry, reporting, and recordkeeping
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently in fast-paced and outdoor environments

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
