Quality Assurance Trading Systems information

What is quality assurance trading systems?

Quality Assurance (QA) Trading Systems professionals are responsible for ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and performance of software platforms used for trading financial assets. They design and execute test plans to identify bugs, verify system functionality, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Their work helps prevent costly errors and ensures that trading platforms perform optimally under various market conditions. QA in trading systems often involves automated testing, performance monitoring, and close collaboration with developers and traders.

What skills and qualifications are needed for quality assurance trading systems?

To thrive as a Quality Assurance Trading Systems professional, you need a solid background in software testing, knowledge of trading workflows, and often a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with automated testing tools (such as Selenium or Cucumber), scripting languages (like Python), and experience with trading platforms or FIX protocol are typically required. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for identifying issues and collaborating with development and trading teams. These skills ensure the reliability, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of trading systems in a high-stakes financial environment.

How does a quality assurance professional in trading systems collaborate with developers and traders to ensure system reliability?

In a Trading Systems environment, Quality Assurance (QA) professionals work closely with both developers and traders to ensure new features and updates meet stringent reliability and performance standards. QA specialists participate in regular sprint meetings, clarify requirements with developers, and often shadow traders to understand real-world workflows. They design and execute test cases based on these collaborations, promptly communicate any issues, and help prioritize fixes to minimize system downtime. Effective teamwork and communication are essential, as QA plays a key role in bridging technical and business perspectives in the fast-paced trading domain.

You will act as the Owner's Representative to verify, audit, and sign off on mechanical, piping, and structural installations after trade contractors have completed their Quality Control (QC) processes. This role ensures that all installations-ranging from ultra-high purity (UHP) process systems to tool structural supports, seismic anchoring, and exhaust ductwork-strictly comply with engineering designs, semiconductor industry codes, and facility standards.

Responsibilities:
  • UHP Piping & Orbital Welding Verification Inspect and sign off on daily orbital weld coupons, verifying both the initial "in-coupon" and terminal "out-coupon" to ensure weld parameter stability and gas purity.
  • Perform 100% visual QA inspection on all "Golden Welds" (final closure/tie-in welds exempt from pressure testing) to guarantee absolute system integrity.
  • Conduct QA sampling and audits of all field welds, supplementing the trade contractor's 100% QC inspection with independent visual checks.
  • Verify adherence to ASME B31.3 Chapter X, SEMI F78, and SEMI F81 visual acceptance and alignment criteria for stainless steel tubing.
  • Perform final QA verification and sign-off on mechanical and piping installations only after the trade contractor's QC process is complete and documented.
  • Audit trade contractor weld logs, testing records, and quality documentation for accuracy, completeness, and full traceability.
  • Witness flange bolt torquing and verify correct gasket materials, bolt grades, lubricants, and torque values against engineering specifications.
  • Witness and verify contractor hydrostatic, pneumatic or sensitive leak tests to grant final system acceptance.
  • Conduct on-site QA inspections of structural steel pedestals to verify dimensions, squareness/plumbness, weld quality, and coating compliance prior to delivery.
  • Perform Special Inspections for tool installations, including the verification of post-installed concrete anchors, adhesive anchors, and seismic restraint brackets.
  • Perform final walkdowns on tool exhaust ductwork systems to verify structural integrity, alignment, and proper support.
  • Review and validate spark-testing logs and torque logs specifically for Perfluoro polymer-Coated Stainless Steel (PSP) exhaust ductwork to ensure coating continuity and joint integrity.
  • Issue and track Owner-level Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for any discovered trade deficiencies, and verify the effectiveness of subsequent corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile comprehensive, audit-ready Quality Turn-Over Packages with zero data gaps prior to turn on of utilities.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
