Job description

Quality Assurance Specialist – Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing

Location: Tustin, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Multiple shifts available

Position Summary

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support quality operations within a fast-paced biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This position will help ensure manufacturing activities comply with cGMP, FDA regulations, company procedures, and established quality standards.

The QA Specialist will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality Control, Supply Chain, and other departments to review documentation, support investigations, identify quality issues, and maintain compliance throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve manufacturing and quality documentation, including batch records, logbooks, SOPs, forms, and controlled documents.
  • Perform in-process and floor QA oversight of biopharmaceutical manufacturing activities.
  • Ensure manufacturing operations are performed in accordance with cGMP requirements and approved procedures.
  • Review batch records and production documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Support investigations related to deviations, nonconformances, and quality events.
  • Assist with CAPA development, implementation, and effectiveness monitoring.
  • Participate in change control activities and assess potential quality impacts.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections as needed.
  • Identify potential compliance issues and communicate findings to appropriate management.
  • Assist with SOP development, revision, and implementation.
  • Review and maintain quality records and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and QC personnel to resolve documentation and quality issues.
  • Provide guidance and training to employees regarding cGMP and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely quality documentation.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related Life Sciences field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or biopharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP and FDA regulations.
  • Experience reviewing batch records, SOPs, manufacturing documentation, or other controlled documents.
  • Familiarity with deviations, CAPA, change controls, and investigations.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Ability to identify compliance issues and effectively communicate concerns.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CDMO environment.
  • Experience with electronic Quality Management Systems (eQMS).
  • Experience supporting FDA or customer audits.
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11 and data integrity principles.
  • Experience with aseptic processing, formulation, upstream, or downstream manufacturing is a plus.

Work Environment

This position operates in a regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment and may require gowning and working in controlled manufacturing areas. The employee must be comfortable working around manufacturing equipment and following strict safety, quality, and documentation procedures.
