The Blueprint (Role Profile)

We are looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to make a visible impact on operational performance, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

Our Dayton, Ohio facility manufactures precision aerospace components and maintains certifications to AS9100, ISO 9001, and Nadcap for Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI). We support demanding manufacturing, aerospace, and defense customers

This position reports directly to the Quality Manager and serves as a key technical resource across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Quality.

The Build (Responsibilities)

Lead Root Cause & Corrective Action Activities

  • Lead cross-functional root cause investigations
  • Drive containment, corrective action implementation, and effectiveness verification
  • Lead customer and internal corrective action responses
  • Analyze recurring quality issues and implement systemic improvements

Own Nonconforming Material Investigations

  • Lead internal nonconforming material investigations and disposition activities
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) processes
  • Coordinate containment and rework activities with Engineering and Operations
  • Identify defect trends and implement preventive actions to reduce escapes and scrap

Lead Returned Goods & Customer Quality Investigations

  • Investigate customer returns, complaints, and quality escapes
  • Coordinate failure analysis and root cause determination
  • Work closely with Engineering and Operations to develop compliant rework and repair plans
  • Support customer communication and response activities related to quality concerns

Serve as the Site Calibration Champion

  • Administer and maintain the plant calibration system
  • Ensure compliance of all inspection, measuring, and test equipment
  • Coordinate external calibration suppliers and calibration schedules
  • Support gauge control, MSA studies, and verification activities
  • Maintain calibration records in accordance with AS9100 and ISO9001 requirements

Support Aerospace Quality Compliance

  • Support and maintain compliance to:
    • AS9100
    • ISO9001
    • Nadcap requirements
    • Customer-specific aerospace requirements
  • Participate in internal, customer, registrar, and Nadcap audits
  • Serve as an AS9100 Internal Auditor with development expectations toward Lead Auditor qualification
  • Support continuous improvement of the Quality Management System

Drive Manufacturing Quality Improvement

  • Maintain a strong floor presence supporting production and inspection teams
  • Identify opportunities for poka-yoke and process error-proofing
  • Monitor quality metrics and KPI trends to drive improvement initiatives
  • Support supplier corrective actions (SCARs) and supplier quality improvement efforts as needed

Utilize SAP & Quality Data Systems

  • Support quality-related transactions, traceability, and reporting within SAP
  • Maintain accurate quality records and reporting metrics
  • Support data-driven decision-making through analysis of quality trends and operational performance
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related technical discipline
  • 3-5+ years of Quality Engineering experience in manufacturing
  • Aerospace, defense, precision machining, or highly regulated manufacturing experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of:
    • AS9100
    • ISO9001
    • Root Cause Analysis methodologies
    • Corrective Action systems
    • Capability studies
    • Blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Experience leading cross-functional investigations and problem-solving teams
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting Nadcap special processes
  • Experience in calibration management and gauge control systems
  • Prior aerospace customer documentation experience
  • Internal Auditor experience within an AS9100 environment
  • Experience with SAP ERP systems
  • ASQ certifications such as CQE or CQA preferred
  • Experience supporting magnetic particle inspection (MPI) operations preferred
