Purpose of Position:


Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Assistant.


The Quality Assurance Assistant supports the facility’s food safety and quality management systems by maintaining quality documentation, monitoring product hold inventories, conducting inspections and audits, assisting with compliance activities, and supporting laboratory and production quality programs. This position works closely with Production, Warehouse, Sanitation, and Quality teams to ensure products meet company, customer, and regulatory standards. Performance is measured by maintaining accurate documentation, supporting food safety compliance, ensuring inventory accuracy, and promoting continuous improvement of quality systems.


Accountabilities:


Quality Systems & Documentation

  • Maintain Quality Assurance databases including Restraining Orders (RO), Product Disposition Requests (PDR), corrective actions, and other quality system records.
  • Enter, update, and maintain hold, release, and disposition documentation while ensuring product traceability.
  • Prepare quality reports, spreadsheets, forms, correspondence, and documentation supporting plant quality systems.
  • Maintain, revise, and distribute quality procedures, work instructions, manuals, and training materials.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential quality records in accordance with company requirements. 


Inventory Verification & Product Control

  • Compare warehouse inventory records with Quality Assurance databases to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies involving restrained and released product.
  • Perform physical verification of restrained inventory and conduct routine audits of Class A and Class B hold inventories.
  • Support product disposition activities through inventory verification and documentation.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy to support product traceability and regulatory compliance. 

 

Audits, Compliance & Food Safety

  • Support internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits by preparing documentation and assisting with audit activities.
  • Maintain documentation supporting CAPA, SCAR, sanitation, food safety, and other quality programs.
  • Review production and quality records to verify compliance with food safety and quality requirements.
  • Conduct GMP, sanitation, Metal Detection, Glass & Brittle Plastic, and other quality inspections.
  • Document inspection findings and assist with corrective action verification and follow-up. 

 

Laboratory & Quality Operations

  • Prepare, package, and ship product samples for customers, laboratories, co-packers, buyers, and other requests.
  • Coordinate with laboratory personnel to support sampling activities, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Calibrate quality equipment and maintain calibration records as required.
  • Prepare non-conforming product samples for evaluation.
  • Assist with investigations involving product quality concerns, customer complaints, and non-conforming materials. 

 

Training & Operational Support

  • Assist with training employees on food safety procedures, quality standards, GMPs, and Critical Control Points.
  • Conduct floor audits to verify employee understanding and compliance with quality procedures.
  • Support production, warehouse, sanitation, and quality teams in maintaining food safety and quality standards.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and other departmental assignments as directed. 

 

Safety, Food Safety & Quality

  • Follow all company safety policies, GMPs, HACCP, SQF, and food safety requirements.
  • Wear required PPE and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, product quality concerns, and injuries immediately.
  • Support compliance with company, customer, and regulatory quality standards while protecting product integrity.


Minimum Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety, quality systems, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to organize multiple priorities while working independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, and production hours as business needs require.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, laboratory, or food safety.
  • Experience with quality management systems, audits, or regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, CAPA, or related food safety programs.
  • Experience with inventory control and quality documentation.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
