Electronic Quality Engineer
Rochester, NY
A well-established electronics manufacturing organization in the Rochester area is seeking an Electronic Quality Engineer to support quality initiatives across PCB assembly, electronic manufacturing, and electro-mechanical production environments. This individual will work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities
  • Support quality processes across PCB assemblies, SMT, thru-hole, cable/wire harness, and electro-mechanical manufacturing operations
  • Investigate manufacturing defects, non-conformances, and customer issues through root cause analysis and corrective action processes
  • Participate in CAPA, NCR, MRB, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation including inspection procedures, work instructions, and process documentation
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to improve product quality, reduce defects, and support production efficiency
  • Assist with internal audits, customer quality requirements, and ISO-related quality activities
  • Analyze quality metrics, defect trends, scrap, and process performance data
  • Support supplier quality and incoming inspection activities
  • Assist with first article inspections, validation efforts, and new product introduction activities
  • Ensure compliance with IPC standards and electronic manufacturing quality practices

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience within electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, EMS, or electro-mechanical manufacturing environments
  • Experience supporting quality systems within ISO-regulated manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with SMT manufacturing, PCB assembly processes, soldering standards, and electronic inspection methods
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies such as CAPA, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, SPC, or Lean/Six Sigma tools
  • Knowledge of IPC standards preferred (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production teams
Preferred Experience
  • Experience within medical device, aerospace, defense, industrial, or high-reliability manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to AOI, X-Ray inspection systems, or functional electronic testing
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience
  • ERP/MRP or manufacturing quality systems exposure
