TRT053 - Trans Tech 4 (PG-J) Mechanic 2

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, maintains, diagnoses, inspects and/or repairs engines, vehicles and other motorized equipment.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Under general supervision, maintains, diagnoses and repairs/rebuilds gasoline and/or diesel-powered engines, vehicles and other motorized equipment. Tests, inspects and evaluates vehicles/equipment for proper and safe operation upon completion of repairs. May assign work to other repair personnel and supervise their repair activities. May dispatch tractor-trailer operators.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  High school diploma/GED and eighteen (18) months of experience at position equivalent.

AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Possession of a Commercial Driver's License.ย ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Two years' experience in the repair of gasoline and/or diesel powered engines, vehicles and mechanical equipment

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Two years' experience repairing cars, light duty trucks and passenger vans

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to serve as lead worker to lower level mechanics.ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Experience reading, writing and comprehending material essential to this position.ย ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Experience understanding and applying shop manual settings, diagrams, capacities, and instructions.ย ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Experience understanding and following oral instructions to perform mechanical repairs without supervision.ย ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to physically lift or assist in lifting heavy equipment such as:ย  brake drums, transmissions, and engine blocks and to perform moderately laboring work.ย ย ย ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Committed to providing quality customer service.ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to perform repetitive tasks effectively over a long period of time.ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  This position is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Three years' experience repairing heavy equipment such as tandem/single axle dump trucks, motor graders, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, dozers, etc.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Must provide own set of hand tools adequate to perform the functions of this position.
