Overview
ENERCON is a multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental services firm dedicated to driving efficiency and sustainability throughout energy, power, and related technology industries. Our culture is defined by our commitment to excellence and investment in our employee's growth and development.
Due to continued growth, our Nuclear Services group is seeking an experienced Environmental Qualification (EQ) Engineer to support our Engineering & Safety Analysis (E&SA) group in Kennesaw, GA. While it is preferred that the individual work out of the ENERCON Headquarters in Kennesaw, GA, we offer flexibility in the following locations:
  • Kennewick, WA
  • Naperville, IL
  • FT Worth, TX
  • Palm Beach Gardens, FL
  • Remote will be considered for Sr or Principal Engineers

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop updates to EQ files due to plant life extensions, changes to plant environments, or plant modifications. The E&SA group consists of a diverse team of engineers with EQ experience as well as radiological and thermal-hydraulic expertise such that the group is capable of supporting all aspects of EQ, including performing calculations to determine normal and accident environments.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and/or review EQ files updates.
  • Prepare and/or review calculations to support EQ file updates. Examples include material aging analyses, post-accident operating time calculations, and component heat rise calculations based on applicable electrical parameters such as voltage, resistance, current, etc.
  • Prepare and/or review updates to license basis documents (LBDs) such as the Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR).
  • Prepare and/or review EQ evaluations to support justification of the operability of EQ components beyond the qualified life, until the next opportunity to replace the component (i.e., operability evaluations)
  • Mentor less experienced engineers in environmental qualification (EQ)
  • Potentially participate in and support client peer reviews, expert panels and NRC audits.
  • Lead EQ projects consisting of a small team of engineers by providing technical direction to team members as well as status updates to the project manager (PM).
  • Interface with discipline and client counterparts to ensure project understanding and for business development. #LI-SH7

Qualifications
  • BS in an Engineering Discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience as an engineer in the nuclear power industry, specifically supporting environmental qualification (EQ).
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with 10CFR50.59 screening and evaluations preferred
  • Previous experience as an EQ Program Owner at a nuclear plant preferred

Compensation Range
USD $90,000.00 - USD $190,000.00 /Yr.
