Their responsibilities usually include gathering requirements, scripting data models, optimizing data flows, and ensuring data accuracy. QlikView Developers often collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to deliver customized analytical solutions that meet specific business needs.

What does a QlikView developer do?

QlikView is a business intelligence platform used to consolidate, analyze, and display data. As a QlikView developer, you utilize this platform to create new applications to meet the data analysis needs of your company or client. Your job duties include determining how the company plans to use the collected data, extract the data from the network, create a data model to display the information in an easy-to-use format, and design dashboards that meet the needs of the organization. Other responsibilities may include updating current software to link with the new applications and documenting instructions for employees to understand how to use the program. QlikView developers utilize a variety of programming languages and often collaborate with other QlikView developers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a QlikView developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a QlikView Developer, you need a solid understanding of data modeling, SQL, and business intelligence concepts, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Expertise in QlikView scripting, dashboard development, and familiarity with databases such as Oracle or SQL Server, along with QlikView certification, are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help developers interpret business needs and collaborate with stakeholders. These skills are crucial for delivering insightful, visually compelling data solutions that drive informed decision-making.

What are some common challenges QlikView developers face when integrating data from multiple sources?

Qlikview Developers often encounter challenges when integrating data from diverse sources such as SQL databases, Excel files, and cloud platforms. Issues may arise with inconsistent data formats, data quality, and ensuring real-time synchronization. Overcoming these challenges usually involves thorough data profiling, implementing robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and collaborating closely with data owners and IT teams to resolve discrepancies. Staying updated with Qlikview's latest connectors and scripting capabilities can also significantly ease integration tasks.
