Quality Assurance Coordinator | Food Manufacturing | Houston, TX

About the Role

A leading provider of airline catering and food production services is seeking a Quality Assurance Coordinator to support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance within a high-volume production facility.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining food safety programs, supporting audits, conducting facility inspections, monitoring product quality, and ensuring compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, and other regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has experience in food manufacturing or another regulated food environment and is passionate about promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain food safety and quality documentation, including HACCP logs, audit records, corrective actions, environmental monitoring, and employee training records

  • Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and customer-specific food safety standards

  • Conduct daily quality inspections throughout production, storage, cooler, and freezer areas

  • Monitor product quality through specification checks, portion verification, and finished product evaluations

  • Verify temperature monitoring for coolers and freezers and maintain accurate documentation

  • Perform environmental monitoring and support microbiological testing programs

  • Coordinate laboratory sample submissions and maintain testing records

  • Partner with Operations and Sanitation teams to investigate food safety concerns and implement corrective actions

  • Train employees on food safety procedures, HACCP principles, GMPs, sanitation practices, and company policies

  • Support customer audits, regulatory inspections, internal audits, and third-party food safety audits

  • Prepare compliance reports, food safety metrics, trend analyses, and key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen food safety and quality programs

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field preferred

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Quality Control, food manufacturing, food production, airline catering, or another regulated food environment

  • Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FDA and USDA regulations, sanitation practices, environmental monitoring, and food safety management systems

  • Strong organizational, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data reporting tools

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced production environment
