Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An inpatient pharmacist position is currently available on an ongoing contract basis to provide critical pharmacy coverage 2–4 days per week in a hospital setting. The role supports hospital pharmacy operations and collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy personnel, and clinical teams to ensure safe, effective medication management.
Location: Winslow, AZ
Schedule: 2–4 days per week based on coverage needs
Pharmacy Hours: 6:30 AM–4:30 PM daily
Training: Provided during the last two weeks of July
Coverage Dates: August 1 through late October, with additional ongoing opportunities
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify inpatient medication orders for accuracy, dosage, allergies, interactions, and contraindications
- Utilize Cerner to enter and process medication orders efficiently
- Manage and troubleshoot Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets
- Review antibiotic therapies including vancomycin dosing and monitoring
- Respond to medication-related inquiries from medical and nursing staff
- Provide clinical recommendations on medication selection and dosing protocols
- Monitor patient medication therapies, identifying and addressing safety concerns
- Support medication reconciliation and ensure formulary compliance
- Assist with inventory management, controlled substances, and medication availability
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and pharmacy standards
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Arizona Pharmacist license in good standing
- Proven inpatient or hospital pharmacy experience
- Experience working with Cerner and Pyxis preferred
- Knowledge of vancomycin dosing and monitoring advantageous
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team
- Commitment to attending scheduled training in late July
