Rumble

Full-time

Job description

Washington D.C, Sarasota, Miami, New York City, Toronto, ON

Rumble is the Freedom-First technology platform. We proudly offer a video platform, cloud services, advertising solutions, and a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet.

Rumble Cloud is building a self‑service cloud platform that gives customers and internal teams powerful, reliable infrastructure with a straightforward, intuitive experience. As a Senior Software Architect, you’ll define and evolve the architecture for our Self‑Service Cloud Portal, Cloud Console, and the broader set of services that support them - including APIs, billing and account management, provisioning and automation, and new product surfaces as they emerge.

This role blends architectural leadership with sustained, hands‑on coding. You’ll set technical direction across services while personally contributing large volumes of clean, production‑quality Python, and you’ll help connect backend Python services, Go microservices, and React/TypeScript frontends into a coherent, well‑structured system. It’s not a management role, but you will influence priorities, mentor engineers, and keep the team aligned on patterns, standards, and trade‑offs.

You’ll work closely with product, DevSecOps, cloud infrastructure, and application engineering teams to turn requirements into architectures, epics, and delivery plans. If you enjoy designing distributed systems, care deeply about API and data model quality, and want to stay deeply involved in the code while steering the platform’s direction, this role is designed for you.

Responsibilities
  • Define and document the architecture, standards, and technical roadmap across the Self‑Service Cloud Portal, Cloud Console, and other current and future services.
  • Contribute a large, sustained volume of production Python code for core backend components, focusing on clarity, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services, including authentication and authorization flows (OAuth2 / OpenID Connect) and multi‑tenant patterns.
  • Integrate backend Python services with Go microservices and React/TypeScript frontends, ensuring consistent contracts, error handling, and performance across layers.
  • Shape data and persistence layers, including relational schemas, ORM models (e.g., SQLAlchemy), and patterns for usage metering, billing, account management, and provisioning.
  • Synthesize product requirements into epics, tickets, and delivery plans, and help establish SDLC and CI/CD practices that keep releases predictable and safe.
  • Collaborate with the DevSecOps Engineer on SSDLC and secure design decisions, ensuring security is integrated into architecture and planning while DevSecOps owns and operates the SSDLC pipeline.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and code reviews, and communicate architectural trade‑offs and decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with cloud and platform teams to align application architecture with OpenStack, Ceph, and Kubernetes capabilities and constraints.
  • Continuously refine patterns, libraries, and conventions to reduce complexity, improve reliability, and make the codebase easier for the team to work with over time.
Qualifications
  • Expert‑level Python for API and backend development, including experience with frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask, and libraries like SQLAlchemy and Jinja2.
  • Strong experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, including authentication and authorization with OAuth2 and OpenID Connect.
  • Experience architecting distributed systems or service‑oriented architectures at production scale, with attention to reliability, observability, and evolvability.
  • Solid relational database skills (PostgreSQL, MySQL) including schema design, query optimization basics, and ORM modeling.
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and Git‑based CI/CD workflows for building, testing, and deploying services.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to lead architecture discussions and explain trade‑offs clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on Go (Golang) experience to contribute to and review backend services.
  • Experience with React and TypeScript for collaborating effectively on frontend architecture and implementation.
  • Familiarity with OpenStack APIs and ecosystem, and with Ceph or other distributed storage systems.
  • Background in multi‑tenant SaaS, including tenant isolation, usage metering, and self‑service provisioning models.
  • Experience with Odoo ERP/CRM or open‑source cloud console/dashboard projects.
  • Test‑driven development with Pytest, and experience building public cloud or IaaS products.
Annual Compensation Range

$165,000 - $190,000 USD base + benefits + equity (If based in the United States)

$145,000 - $175,000 CAD base + benefits + equity (If based in Canada)

Note: The salary range listed for this position is a good faith estimate based on experience, qualifications, and internal compensation structure. The actual salary offered varies depending on the candidate’s skill level and experience. This posting refers to an active vacancy within the organization.
