Sentar is seeking a Solutions Engineer in Charleston!

Role Description:

As a Solutions Engineer/ Business Process Automation Developer, you will be a key driver of efficiency and modernization within the organization. You will design, develop, implement, and maintain automated workflows and custom solutions by leveraging the full potential of platforms like Atlassian Jira and the Microsoft 365 Power Platform (SharePoint Online, Power Automate, Power Apps). This role is focused on creative problem-solving and process engineering, using APIs, scripting, and low-code/no-code solutions to connect disparate systems, reduce manual effort, and improve data-driven decision-making. You will work directly with stakeholders to understand their challenges and build robust, scalable automations that provide tangible mission value.

  • Design, build, and deploy robust automation solutions using Power Automate to integrate systems and streamline business processes.
  • Develop custom business applications and user-friendly interfaces with Power Apps to improve data capture and user interaction.
  • Write, test, and maintain Python, JavaScript and Groovy scripts to perform tasks that are not possible with out-of-the-box automation tools.
  • Serve as the technical lead for integrating Jira and SharePoint Online, ensuring seamless data flow between platforms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and business analysts to gather requirements, map existing processes ("as-is"), and design optimized automated workflows ("to-be").
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including solution design documents, process flow diagrams, and user guides for all developed automations.
  • Provide tier-3 support for deployed automations, including troubleshooting API connection issues, debugging script errors, and refining logic.
  • Stay abreast of the latest features and best practices within the Atlassian and Microsoft Power Platform ecosystems to continuously improve solutions.
  • Ensure all solutions are developed and deployed in accordance with organizational security and compliance policies.

Qualifications:

Clearance Level: Secret with eligibility for upgrade to Top Secret (TS)

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or have equivalent work experience.

Certifications: Must possess DoD 8570 IAT Level II and DoD 8140 CSSP Auditor compliant certifications.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated mastery of the Microsoft Power Platform, including building complex flows in Power Automate and developing custom forms and applications with Power Apps.
  • Strong proficiency in consuming and interacting with REST APIs for systems integration (e.g., Jira, SharePoint, Microsoft Graph).
  • Advanced experience in scripting with Python, JavaScript and Groovy for automation, data manipulation, and integration tasks.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex business processes and translate user requirements into technical specifications for automated solutions.
  • Deep understanding of SharePoint Online architecture, including lists, libraries, permissions, and content types as they relate to automation.
  • Experience with data formats such as JSON and XML.
  • Familiarity with authentication and authorization concepts for APIs (e.g., OAuth, API Keys, Service Principals).

Highly desired skills:

  • Experience with native Jira automation and advanced scripting using Atlassian Groovy (ScriptRunner).
  • Proficiency with Jira Query Language (JQL) for complex data retrieval and reporting.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Graph API to automate tasks across the M365 ecosystem beyond SharePoint.
  • Experience working within an Agile, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or Kanban development environment.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Basic database knowledge (SQL or NoSQL) for managing and querying datasets used in automations.
  • A strong design sense for creating intuitive and user-friendly Power Apps interfaces.
