Would you like the opportunity to work as part of passionate and diverse analytics department which is continuously looking for new insights to help serve the teachers of Ontario? As an intern within the Business Insights and Analytics team within Member Services you will utilize your technical and business skills to extract, analyze and present key insights/reports to support the delivery of outstanding service to our members. You will have the freedom to choose from a variety of projects, using a variety of technical and analytical methods to tackle real world business questions! Working collaboratively, you will help drive the team's role as a centre of expertise in the development and implementation of business intelligence models, predictive analytics, reporting frameworks, and ad hoc analytics.

Who you'll work with

In this role you will work closely with the four managers within the Business Insights and Analytics team, each of whom has their own outstanding specialization. You will have ample opportunity to learn both business and technical skills and get exposure to business partners and stakeholders across Member Services. Depending on where your interest lies and the projects you choose, you could collaborate with individuals at all levels in areas such as: Communications, the Contact Centre, Employer Information Services and IT!

What you'll do

Your responsibilities could include:

  • Developing and utilizing a variety of processes and methodologies to glean insights into client segments, including attitudes (consumer, financial services, technology, etc.), behaviors, needs and wants, and share insights to ensure cross-functional understanding.

  • Automation of existing and new processes using Python, APIs, and/or other software as needed to assist in data analysis, tracking and maintenance.

  • Utilizing Business Intelligence Tools to manage the collection, analysis and communication of insights to enable the business to: make informed decisions, forecast implications of initiatives undertaken, and monitor changes introduced to improve client experience.

  • Supporting multi-channel tracking and analytics (web, telephone, email etc.)

  • Using technical and business skills to manipulate and draw conclusions from data and provide actionable audience specific recommendations.

  • Working cross functionally as part of larger project teams to deliver against corporate scorecard initiatives.

  • Providing monthly reporting on key performance indicators and statistics.

What you'll need
  • Pursuit of a University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative/research field

  • Intermediate coding experience (algorithm design, object-oriented programming, data structures) in any language. Knowledge of Python, SQL, SAS and/or SPSS is an asset but not required.

  • Ability to learn programming languages, business intelligence tools and other software quickly.

  • Strong analytical, data manipulation and problem-solving skills and ability to distil insights and assess opportunities.

  • Experience in statistics, research and data analysis.

  • Passion for research methodologies, exploratory data analyses, predictive modelling, segmentation, user experience, and web analytics.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Must be enrolled in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year or related Master's program

  • You should be enrolled in a co-op program or returning to your studies after the work term is completed
