The Role:

The Team:

Technology & Operations enables CPP Investments to deliver on its global investment mandate through secure, resilient, and innovative technology capabilities. The department partners across the organization to develop modern platforms, engineering capabilities, and data solutions that support investment decision-making and operational excellence.

The Active Equities Technology team partners closely with investment professionals to build technology solutions that support portfolio management, investment research, trading, and analytics. The team develops scalable software products, data platforms, and cloud-native applications while advancing engineering practices and leveraging emerging technologies to improve investment outcomes.

Accountabilities

• Lead the end-to-end design, development, deployment, and support of scalable technology solutions that enable Active Equities investment capabilities in an Agile environment.

• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to ensure solutions are secure, resilient, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise engineering standards.

• Develop modern full-stack applications using Python, React or Plotly Dash, APIs, and cloud-native technologies to support portfolio management, research, and analytics.

• Drive engineering excellence by promoting clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.

• Design and implement scalable data pipelines and analytical workflows in partnership with data engineering and business intelligence teams.

• Evaluate and apply emerging technologies, including Generative AI and AI-assisted development tools, to improve engineering productivity and software quality.

• Mentor engineers, lead complex technical problem-solving, and build strong partnerships across business and technology teams to deliver high-quality technology solutions.

What You Bring

• Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive software engineering experience, including leading complex technical initiatives and enterprise application development.

• Strong experience designing and developing enterprise applications using Python and modern front-end technologies such as React or Plotly Dash.

• Experience building scalable APIs, distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and modern software solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar cloud platforms.

• Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure automation, production support, and Agile software development methodologies.

• Experience building data pipelines and working with modern data platforms; Databricks experience is considered an asset.

• Excellent communication, technical leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
