Business Analyst / Project Manager with Healthcare / LIS
Position Overview
We are seeking a Business Analyst / Project Manager (BA/PM) with strong experience in healthcare systems, Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), and preferably anatomic pathology workflows.
This role bridges business, clinical operations, and engineering teams to deliver solutions that improve efficiency, data accessibility, and user experience across laboratory and clinical environments.
The ideal candidate understands the nuances of lab workflows, specimen lifecycle, reporting, and regulatory requirements, and can translate complex operational needs into scalable technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather, analyze, and document business and clinical requirements for LIS and related healthcare systems
  • Act as the primary liaison between clinical stakeholders (pathologists, lab staff) and engineering teams
  • Lead end-to-end project delivery including planning, execution, tracking, and reporting
  • Map and optimize anatomic pathology and laboratory workflows (specimen accessioning, tracking, processing, reporting)
  • Translate requirements into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Coordinate system integrations (LIS, EHR/EMR, billing, external lab systems)
  • Ensure alignment with healthcare standards and compliance requirements (HIPAA, CLIA, CAP, HL7, FHIR)
  • Manage project timelines, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communication
  • Support UAT, training, and deployment activities
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes and system usability

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Project Manager, or hybrid BA/PM role
  • Experience working with healthcare systems or Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Ability to translate business needs into clear technical requirements
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Agentic AI
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience in Anatomic Pathology workflows (grossing, histology, cytology, reporting)
  • Familiarity with LIS platforms such as Sunquest, Cerner Millennium PathNet, Epic Beaker, SCC Soft, Orchard
  • Understanding of specimen lifecycle management and lab operations
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)
  • Exposure to clinical reporting, lab billing, and compliance workflows
  • Experience working in regulated healthcare environments

Nice to Have
  • PMP, CBAP, or similar certification
  • Experience with data analytics, reporting tools, or dashboards
  • Exposure to digital pathology or imaging systems
