Job description

Overview
About Susquehanna
Susquehanna is a global quantitative trading firm founded by a group of friends who share a passion for game theory and probabilistic thinking. We have incorporated this approach into our culture, where you will find relentless problem solvers within each of our core disciplines: Trading, Technology, and Quantitative Research. From offices around the world, our employees collaborate to make optimal decisions and are driven by the desire to achieve winning results together.
What we do
We are experts in trading essentially all listed financial products and asset classes, with a focus on derivatives trading. Through market making and market taking, we handle millions of trading transactions around the world every day, providing liquidity and ensuring competitive prices for buyers and sellers. While our presence in the market is broad, our trading desks are highly specialized, allowing for a deep understanding of unique drivers of each asset class.
Team Overview:
Our Platform Services team is an integral part of the Compute and Storage Platforms (CASP) team at Susquehanna and shares responsibility for building and managing all 15,000+ servers and 250+ PB of storage that composes our critical trade focused infrastructure. Joining Platform Services is the first step in building an engineering career with Susquehanna and provides you with opportunities to:
Rotate across technology spaces
As part of the team, you will be able to rotate with senior engineers specializing in Windows, Linux, Virtualization, Storage, and open source technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, and Grafana. During these rotations you will partner with engineers to learn the fundamentals of their spaces and help them solve complex problems from building out new environments, evaluating and creating new applications, performance tuning, automation, and configuration management.
Work with mentors
In each rotation you will be paired with one or more mentors that will guide you through your technical growth and Susquehanna's environment. In addition to dealing with day-to-day project work, together you will pinpoint your areas of interest and avenues for growth. You will also work closely with the rest of our teams through design/white board sessions, problem solving discussions, and ongoing project and team updates.
Address and solve challenging technical problems
At Susquehanna we want your help to solve challenging problems! Partner with technologists across Susquehanna's environment to troubleshoot application, network, hardware, and other issues while learning and debating the best solution to fit the scenario. You will have the freedom to test and implement your solutions at scale in our onsite labs consisting of over 600 physical and virtual servers.
Engage with bleeding edge technology
Susquehanna is always looking at the latest technology to see where we can increase speed and performance for competitive advantage while managing risk and enhancing stability. You may have the opportunity to help test out new hardware that isn't generally available (server hardware, network cards, flash storage), work on emerging platforms geared toward container orchestration (Kubernetes, Service Fabric), or work on high performance clustered environments responsible for driving our quantitative trading.
The shift for this role rotates daily between three shifts: 7:00am-4:00pm(Production Lead), 9:00am-6:00pm and 11:00am-8:00pm(Late Support). There is one Production Lead and Late Support per day and the rest of the team works 9:00am-6:00pm. Applicants must be willing to work these shifts
What we're looking for
What we're looking for:
  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, or a similar technical major.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture, OS and network concepts.
  • A passion for technology, learning, and finding creative ways to solve hard problems.
  • Strong personal initiative and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with any of the following a plus: Python, PowerShell, Bash, Linux, Windows, building computer systems or networks.
